The condensation of obscure music dripped from the slatted Cabana's fence;
I couldn't see the singer from the sidewalk, but I was drifting into his throat.
The street lights made the full moon laugh and I, in gleeful cadence,
threw a chesty bit of contrast at those slow caressing soul-notes.

Saxophone jazz and a stray leather jacket
while the world twirled sexy flutters
for the mites that mow on forgotten caskets
of hidden cues in mindless utters

The blatant chaos of perfect lines laid naked by the dewy grass,
And all of it compressed into woodwind notes and smokey air.
The innocence of consciousness was disappearing hard and fast
Even the comfortable breeze just wants to ruffle with my hair.

Oh, What peaceful interlude to this freakshow of a midnight stroll
The spinning planet rattles like the echo of a drum roll

But now it can be I who smiles
Alone and dancing to the walking bass line
of the UFO music
Chemical soundwaves bursting my brain cells
Alone and dancing to the familiar laugh
of my own red lungs
And now it can be I who lives
Alone and dancing with my rabbit eyes
full of Mother, Maiden, Crone
I am dancing all alone
to a song that only I can hear

The original title was "No one has ever loved me as much as the reluctant visitors from the bunny planet and I"

but i wanted to be more creative, so, you know... if it helps, you can reread the poem with that in mind.

This was my favorite part.

um. um. I don't know what to say.
I was moved to there and back.

Where are you? Buying fruit?

Thank you :)

I always love poems that have a line or two in them that just really stick with you. I don't know if you listen to Elliot Smith, but he does that to me a lot. In fact, after I got home on the night this poem describes, I felt compelled to write about him... so...

well, actually I guess that has nothing to do with what I originally intended to say, but I felt like sharing
I'm glad you liked the poem. :D

I like it a lot, especially the bit about the jazz. It has a very "close" felling to it.

The universe will provide what you need.

Granted, you may not like what what you need.
What you need may be different from what you want,
and in this there is the conflict.

Thanks Chris

I think I always try to read people's comments on my poetry the same way I expect them to read my poetry so uh... you mean "close" as in I'm close to the singer or uh...?

sorry bout that "close" = intimate or romantic or sultry or um....uh.... I mean this for the first parts of the poem. The last piece is like "I'm following my own path" kind of thing.. I think. ^^;

Haha, its okay. I was just confused. You don't ever have to worry about being right or wrong when you read my poems. They're just poetry.

You got it pretty close though.
